Royal Caribbean does not sail from Manhattan or Brooklyn. It sails from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, which Royal Caribbean itself markets as "Cape Liberty (New York)". This site covers the two city terminals only, so it does not list those sailings.

If you would rather leave from the city, the table further down matches each kind of Royal Caribbean trip to the closest sailing from Manhattan or Brooklyn, with today's fares. If you want Royal Caribbean itself, its Cape Liberty page has the dates and fares.

This site is independent. It is not Royal Caribbean, a port or a travel agent.

Does Royal Caribbean sail from New York?

Royal Caribbean sails from the New York area, not from New York City. Its ships use Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, and none appears at the Manhattan or Brooklyn terminal on the official Cruise NYC calendar, which runs to 22 December 2027.

Royal Caribbean's own page is titled "Cruises from Cape Liberty (New York), New Jersey" and sells these trips as cruises from New York City, which is why people look for the ships in the city. Cruise NYC's July 2026 plan for Brooklyn counts Cape Liberty as one of three cruise ports for the greater New York City region.

Royal Caribbean cruises from New York: where do they leave from?

Royal Caribbean cruises from New York leave from Cape Liberty Cruise Port, at 4 Port Terminal Boulevard, Bayonne, New Jersey. The entrance is off Route 440, at a site Royal Caribbean also calls the Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor.

Read the port name on your booking before you arrange a car or a hotel. On Royal Caribbean, "New York" means New Jersey, and a car sent to Manhattan or Brooklyn goes to the wrong port.

How far is Cape Liberty from Manhattan?

Cape Liberty is about 13 miles by road from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal and about 14 miles from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, by our routing check. Royal Caribbean's directions page puts it 9 miles from Newark airport.

Royal Caribbean gives these routes from Manhattan:

  • By car. Take the Lincoln Tunnel or the Holland Tunnel into New Jersey, then the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 14A. Route 440 South runs to Port Terminal Boulevard. Turn left there and follow the signs past the guard gate.
  • By train. Take PATH to Jersey City or Hoboken, then the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to 34th Street in Bayonne. Royal Caribbean says to call a Bayonne taxi from there for the last stretch.

The parking, airport and hotel guides on this site cover the two city terminals, not Bayonne.

Which Royal Caribbean ships sail from Cape Liberty?

Royal Caribbean's Cape Liberty page listed Oasis of the Seas, Odyssey of the Seas and Independence of the Seas on 30 October 2026. None of them is on this site's schedule, and Royal Caribbean can change its plans, so use its page for current dates.

Some of the 9-night Caribbean trips are one-way, ending in Miami or Fort Lauderdale.

Does Celebrity sail from New York?

Celebrity Cruises sails from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, the same port as Royal Caribbean, and not from Manhattan or Brooklyn, so this site does not list Celebrity either. Celebrity's port page names Celebrity Silhouette as the ship there, with Bermuda, Greenland and Iceland as destinations, and says Bayonne is less than an hour's drive from Manhattan.

What can you book from New York City instead of Royal Caribbean?

Norwegian and Carnival sail the closest matches to Royal Caribbean from New York City, with Bermuda, Bahamas and Caribbean trips from the Manhattan terminal. Princess and Cunard sail Canada and New England trips from Brooklyn. These are cruises you can board in the city, with no trip to New Jersey.

  • Bermuda. Norwegian has the most sailings. Norwegian Luna leaves on Saturdays from April to August for 7 nights. The Bermuda page lists every sailing, and the Bermuda guide compares the time in port.
  • Bahamas and Caribbean. Norwegian Bliss sails 8-night Bahamas trips and 12-night Eastern Caribbean trips between November and March. The Caribbean guide compares the routes and sea days.
  • Canada and New England. The Canada and New England page lists every trip, including the one-way sailings to Quebec City and Montreal.
  • By line. Norwegian has 103 sailings on this schedule, and Carnival has 22, from 27 May 2027 to 2 November 2027.

One stop has no replacement. Royal Caribbean's 7-night Bahamas trips call at Perfect Day CocoCay, and no sailing on this schedule does. Norwegian Bliss calls at Great Stirrup Cay instead. If CocoCay is the reason for the trip, Cape Liberty is your port.

Which New York terminal do Norwegian and Carnival use?

Norwegian and Carnival sailings use the Manhattan Cruise Terminal on the official Cruise NYC calendar, which runs to 22 December 2027, and Princess and Cunard sailings use the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. The terminals for later sailings are not published yet, so check each sailing's own page.

Our terminal guide has both addresses and the directions. MSC and Virgin Voyages have no sailings here either, as our MSC guide explains. If you care more about what the fare includes than which line you sail, see our all-inclusive guide.
