Stay at an airport if you land too late to reach the city, and choose the airport you fly into. By car, without traffic, LaGuardia hotels are 26 to 27 minutes from either cruise terminal, Newark hotels 27 to 31, and JFK hotels 35 to 40. The table above has nine hotels, closest to its airport first. Eight run a free airport shuttle. None runs a shuttle to a cruise terminal.
Hotel details are from each hotel's own website as they read on October 30, 2026. The times are ours, measured on OpenStreetMap, to JFK Terminal 4, Newark Terminal B or LaGuardia Terminal B and to each cruise terminal. Marriott's site blocked our checks part way through and Hyatt's wouldn't load, so the many Marriott and Hyatt hotels at these airports are missing.
Which airport is closest to the New York cruise terminals?
LaGuardia, about 12 miles from either terminal. Newark is about 17 miles away, and JFK 20 miles from Manhattan and 27 from Brooklyn. These are our routes from the airport terminal, without traffic:
| Airport | To Manhattan terminal | To Brooklyn terminal |
|---|---|---|
| LaGuardia | 12.1 miles, 25 minutes | 12.2 miles, 24 minutes |
| Newark | 16.5 miles, 30 minutes | 17.2 miles, 31 minutes |
| JFK | 20.0 miles, 37 minutes | 27.0 miles, 37 minutes |
These figures assume an empty road, so allow more. See getting from the airport to the terminal.
Should I stay at the airport or near the cruise terminal?
Near the terminal if you land by early evening. The closest Manhattan hotels are a short walk from the ship, and the Brooklyn terminal has two hotels within a walk.
Stay at the airport if your flight gets in late or you want the shortest possible trip tonight. You'll pay for the ride to the ship in the morning instead. Boarding generally begins between 11:30am and 12:30pm, Cruise NYC says, so there's no need to leave early.
After a cruise, a hotel at the airport helps if your flight is the next day. Ships arrive between 7am and 8am, and Cruise NYC can't store your luggage at the terminal.
Do JFK airport hotels have a free shuttle?
Three of the four here do. JFK doesn't let hotel shuttles into the central terminal area, the TWA Hotel says, so they meet you elsewhere. Ask each hotel where to wait.
- Hilton Garden Inn Queens/JFK Airport. Free, 5am to 11pm daily.
- Hampton Inn NY-JFK. Free, 24 hours, to and from Federal Circle Station on the AirTrain. Call the hotel.
- DoubleTree by Hilton New York JFK Airport. Free. Call the hotel for pick up.
- TWA Hotel. No shuttle, because it's on the airport. Take the AirTrain to the Terminal 5 stop, which the hotel says is a 5-minute ride from all terminals.
Do Newark and LaGuardia airport hotels have a free shuttle?
All five here do, on their own sites as of October 30, 2026.
- Hilton Newark Airport. Free, 24 hours.
- DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport. Free, every 30 minutes.
- Crowne Plaza Newark Airport. Free, every 30 minutes, from the P3 station at the airport.
- DoubleTree by Hilton New York LaGuardia Airport. Free.
- Hampton Inn New York - LaGuardia Airport. Free, to the airport and the nearby 7 train station.
The DoubleTree at Newark also says it is seven miles from Cape Liberty, which is a different port. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity use it, and this site doesn't cover it.
Can I park at an airport hotel during my cruise?
None of these hotels sells a park and cruise package on its own site. The closest thing is the TWA Hotel's Park, Stay & Fly rate, $60 a night for the first two nights and $20 a night after that, as published on October 30, 2026. It's written for flying, and cruises aren't mentioned, so ask before you book. It's valet only.
Daily parking for hotel guests, as published on the same date:
- $22: Crowne Plaza Newark Airport
- $27: DoubleTree Newark Airport
- $28 plus tax: Hilton Newark Airport
- $30: Hampton Inn LaGuardia, and DoubleTree LaGuardia, which lists $40 from November 1, 2026
- $45: Hilton Garden Inn Queens/JFK
- $50 valet: Hampton Inn NY-JFK
- $56 valet, tax included: DoubleTree JFK
If you drive to your cruise, the terminals' own lots are simpler. See the parking guide.
Are there hotels at New York airports with a cruise shuttle?
Not among these nine. Their shuttles run to the airport, not the ship. Plan on a taxi, a rideshare or a transfer from the airport.
