Where cruises from New York actually go

Bermuda is the most common trip from New York, usually a week with a few nights docked there. Canada and New England fill the summer and autumn, the Caribbean mostly runs in winter and takes longer because of the sea days each way, and Queen Mary 2 crosses to Southampton through much of the year. The counts on each card come straight from the schedule.

Bermuda

Round trips to the Royal Naval Dockyard are the most common route from New York. Norwegian Luna sails most of them from April to October, usually 7 nights from a Saturday, with some 5-night trips. Carnival Firenze adds trips of 4 to 7 nights from July to October 2027, and Disney Wish a few that autumn. A handful of longer voyages carry on to the Caribbean.

82 sailings · 4 to 24 nights · from $482

Queen Mary 2 alongside the cruise terminal at Southampton, England

Europe and transatlantic

Mostly Cunard's Queen Mary 2, which crosses between New York and Southampton in 7 nights with no stops, and sells longer round trips from the same departures. Viking takes the northern route through Canada, Greenland and Iceland, and Holland America's Volendam sails voyages of more than 40 nights. Most are one-way, so the flight home is part of the plan.

67 sailings · 7 to 78 nights · from $529

The Old Town of Quebec City with the Chateau Frontenac above the St Lawrence River, seen from Levis

Canada and New England

Summer and autumn trips up the coast. Most call at Halifax and Boston, and many at Portland in Maine, Saint John in New Brunswick and Newport in Rhode Island. Regal Princess sails 7-night round trips on Saturdays from late summer into autumn, while the smaller ships go on to Quebec City or Montreal and end there, so check for a one-way before you book flights.

56 sailings · 4 to 20 nights · from $447

Great Bay Beach and the waterfront at Philipsburg, St Maarten

Eastern Caribbean

Mostly winter sailings on Norwegian Bliss, nearly all 12 nights, which call at islands such as St. Thomas, Tortola, St. Kitts, St. Maarten and San Juan, with Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. Carnival Firenze adds 8-night trips in June, July and August 2027. New York is a long way from the Caribbean, so expect several sea days each way.

23 sailings · 8 to 12 nights · from $799

Carnival Splendor berthed at Circular Quay in Sydney Harbour, with the Sydney Opera House in the distance

Other itineraries

World cruises and their segments, sold from New York by Cunard and Regent Seven Seas, and Norwegian Bliss's voyages through the Panama Canal to the West Coast. These are long, and they end far from New York.

12 sailings · 14 to 174 nights · from $2,429

A divi divi tree on the white sand of Eagle Beach, Aruba

Southern Caribbean

Longer trips, 10 nights and up, that reach islands such as Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados and St. Lucia, usually with St. Kitts or St. Maarten on the way. Most are one-way and end in Florida or San Juan rather than back in New York, so check the end port before you book flights.

11 sailings · 10 to 15 nights · from $786

Cruise ships at the Nassau cruise port in the Bahamas, with the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island behind

Bahamas

Norwegian Bliss's 8-night winter round trips, which call at Port Canaveral in Florida as well as Great Stirrup Cay and, on most dates, Nassau. New York is further from the Bahamas than the Florida ports, so these have more sea days than a sailing of the same length from Miami.
